What is a Wiki?
The word Wiki comes from Hawaiian-language word for fast. The word is sometimes interpreted 'what I know is', which describes the knowledge contribution, storage, and the exchange function.
A wiki enables documents to be written very collaboratively, in a simple markup language using a web browser. A single page in a wiki is referred to as a "wiki page", while the entire body of pages, which are usually highly interconnected via hyperlinks, is "the wiki". A wiki is actually a very simple, easy-to-use user-maintained database for creating, browsing and searching information.
A Wiki for Hansen?
It is the intention to build a simple Wiki environment to enable all employees to access and contribute to knowledge within the organisation.
It is viewed as a logical extension to some of the areas already accessible within familienhansen e.g. marketing, management information.
As with the development of the familienhansen web site so far, the wiki offering is considered to be experiemental and may or may not become a valuable tool for Hansen.
